Individual & Family Health Insurance

Navigating the ACA Marketplace can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make it simple. As an independent agency serving Minnesota and Wisconsin, we work with all major carriers to help you find the right health plan for your needs.

Whether you're self-employed, between jobs, or just exploring your options, we offer subsidy guidance to help lower your monthly premiums, support with enrollment and renewals, and clear answers to your coverage questions.

Common Needs:

  • Considering retiring before 65 and wondering my options for coverage, cost, etc.
  • You are losing current coverage and need to find alternatives
  • With the rise in employer plans, does it make sense for my spouse and/or dependents to go on their on plan?

Special Enrollment Period

Coverage usually starts the first day of the following month.

If you miss this window, you’ll need to wait until the next Open Enrollment Period unless another SEP applies.

You may qualify for a SEP if you’ve had one of the following events:

  • Loss of coverage: Losing employer-sponsored insurance, Medicaid, or other qualifying coverage
  • Change in household: Marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or death of a household member
  • Change in residence: Moving to a new ZIP code, county, or state
  • Other qualifying events: Gaining citizenship, release from incarceration, or changes in income that affect eligibility

You typically have 60 days before or after the qualifying event to enroll in a new plan. Some events, like birth or adoption, may allow immediate coverage starting on the event date.

You may need to submit documentation to verify your qualifying event including:

  • Letter from employer - must be either on company letterhead or from a company email address by management or HR department. This letter must include date of last day of coverage, employee and any dependents being dropped from the plan, and reason for termination of the coverage.
  • Marriage or divorce paperwork
  • Birth or adoption certificate

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@ezraig.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

During Open Enrollment (Nov 1–Jan 15). Outside that window, you’ll need a Special Enrollment Period triggered by events like losing coverage, moving, or having a baby.

Most U.S. citizens and lawfully present immigrants can apply. Income, household size, and access to other coverage affect eligibility.

Yes! The Marketplace is a key option for freelancers, gig workers, and small business owners.

A subsidy that lowers monthly premiums based on income and household size.

  •  When someone applies for coverage, they estimate their income for the upcoming year.
  • Based on that estimate, the Marketplace calculates how much of a tax credit they qualify for.
  • The government pays that credit directly to the insurer, reducing the monthly premium.
  • At tax time, the actual income is reconciled—if they earned more or less than expected, they may owe or receive a refund.

Use your expected income for the coverage year—not last year’s. Include all household members claimed on your tax return.

These metal tiers reflect how costs are shared:

  • Bronze: Low premiums, high out-of-pocket costs
  • Silver: Moderate premiums and costs
  • Gold: High premiums, low out-of-pocket costs

Some do for children. Adults may need to purchase separate dental/vision plans.

All plans include essential health benefits like preventive care, emergency services, maternity care, and prescription drugs.

It depends on the plan’s provider network. Always check if your preferred providers are in-network before enrolling.

Directly to the insurance company—not through the Marketplace.
